Remodeling Kasangati Medical Devices Manufacturing Center.
The MakBME unit, through CITE, has secured space in Kasangati, at the School of Public Health annex along Gayaza Road, to establish a medical device manufacturing center under the Center for Design, Innovation, and Translational Excellence (CITE). This facility will be remodeled to comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) requirements as per the National Drugs Authority and will also align with ISO 13485:2016 certification.
Once operational, the center will support innovators, researchers, and the general community by providing a platform to advance their ideas through rapid prototyping to market-ready solutions. The facility will be equipped with state-of-the-art rapid prototyping equipment and tools to facilitate medical device development. Products manufactured here will meet cGMP standards, enabling them to proceed directly to clinical trials, significantly reducing the time taken for medical devices to reach the market.
This initiative aims to bridge the gap in medical device innovation by offering a comprehensive solution for design, prototyping, and manufacturing, ensuring a seamless path from concept to commercialization.
