Data collection tool development workshop On July 15th and 16th 2021,

The team held a data Collection tool development workshop at SKYZ hotel in Kampala. The tool was developed using KOBO collect with questions for Ugandan innovators and regulators. The questions were developed with a major goal of mapping existing knowledge about the systems and processes for clinical evaluation and regulation of locally made IMD amongst key stakeholders in Uganda.

1 - Data Collection Workshop


Data will be collected through interviews and questionnaires targeting researchers, clinicians, innovators and key opinion leaders based in locations including engineering departments in Makerere and Mbarara Universities, innovation hubs associated with Makerere University such RAN (Resilient Africa Network), Makerere CTU, public, charity and private hospitals, the Ugandan government and organizations responsible for regulating IMD in Uganda

2 - Training on Clinical trial design for IMD

To strengthen local research capacity through training on clinical trial design for investigational medical devices and medical writing for the regulation of such devices. The team will generate a training package about the requirements for IMD regulation in Uganda and factors that need to be considered when designing devices for medical application.
