KeySuite: The Key to sustainable cancer Diagnosis in Uganda

KeySuite is a low-cost, durable laparoscopic kit designed for the needsof low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). It includes 3components: the KeyScope, KeyLoop, and KeyStand. The KeyScopeis a single-unit laparoscope that features a plug-and-play mechanism,uses LEDs and a CMOS detector instead of fiber optic cables, andconnects to a laptop, eliminating the need for expensive monitors andreducing the risk of failure during power outages.

The KeyLoop is a laparoscopic retractor designed to lift the abdominalwall mechanically. It is anatomically optimized and inserted through a5mm incision, then counter-rotated to provide exposure similar totraditional gas-based methods. The KeyLoop is paired with theKeyStand, a table-mounted system that provides the necessary verticaltension for visualization inside the abdominal cavity. This project isrunning in partnership with Duke University, University of Marylandand Makerere University.
